Improved realisations and better cost management saw ACC reported a 62 per cent rise in its net profit at Rs.192.60 crore for the third quarter of calendar 2014. The sales turnover for the period was up 9.4 per cent at Rs.2,741.87 crore.
The company’s operating profit for the period was up 32.3 per cent at Rs.379.08 crore, and according to a company statement, profitability during the quarter improved “as a result of our customer excellence programme and better cost management, particularly with regard to distribution costs and optimized sourcing of inputs and improved realisations.”
The sales volume during the quarter rose to 5.62 million tonnes (5.54 million tonnes).
“With prospects of the economy gradually picking up, the infrastructure, housing and construction sectors are expected to register growth in the near term, which will have a positive impact on demand for cement,” the company statement said.
