GoDB to help users design own mobile app

Chennai-based GoDB Tech Pvt. Ltd., on Wednesday, launched a service for smartphone users that would enable individuals/enterprises to convert Excel file into mobile App in a fastest and cost-effective way without any coding.

As Excel is widely used for basic and complex calculations by business managers in financial and retail sectors, GoDB promoters thought it fit to enable the users to create a mobile App in few hours.

After registering with XLApp.io, the user can model/design the app in Excel using the existing functions of Excel.

One can also define custom cells to capture image, GPS or barcode, by just naming the cells in Excel.

As a second step, the Microsoft XLSX file has to be uploaded into XLApp server, which would convert it into an App. The App can be shared via Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp or mails.

Briefing reporters, P. Mahavir Chand, GoDB Tech co-founder, said XLApp, a cloud-based service, was targeted at those working in banking, insurance, capital market and retail sectors. The App would run on all operating systems, and could be downloaded for free from respective app stores.

Ravi Kiran, XLApp Chief Technology Officer, said “People are more comfortable with using mobile Apps, but most business processes are in Excel. With the number of smartphone users growing exponentially, it has become increasingly important for businesses to enable these processes on mobile.”

GoDB team took nearly eight months and made an investment of over Rs.1.20 crore to develop the current version. GoDB hopes to enable 50,000 users in the first year.

Freemium model can be downloaded freely. However, reports, technical support and analytics will be chargeable.
