India’s newest airline Vistara has signed an agreement with IT provider for the air transport industry SITA for aircraft communications, airline operations and network connectivity.
Maneesh Jaikrishna, Vice President-India and Sub Continent, SITA, made the announcement on Thursday at the India Aviation ICT forum.
“SITA is enabling them to be prepared to start operations. We are going to provide them network connectively, airline communications and airline operations services, automatic flight plan, etc,” he told reporters.
The agreement includes SITA’s air-to-ground airline operations and data link service, flight briefing service to help plan routes that reduces operational cost and a comprehensive network solution connecting Vistara’s ground operations for critical passenger services.
SITA’s VHF network will provide the connectivity to the services to the airline.
Mr. Jaikrishna also said that passengers at 25 airports can now use SITA’s common-use self service technology and kiosks to check in at the airport quickly and easily.
He said Airport Authority of India collaborated with SITA to deploy the new technology as part of its ongoing airport modernisation programme.
