Tall and handsome Ganesh Venkatram had a new experience recently while shooting for a dance number for his upcoming film Acchaaram . “I play a dual role in Acchaaram and one of the characters has a rustic shade which calls for a ‘kutthu’ song in a dream sequence. I had a blast doing this sequence for the first time in my career. The Srikanth Deva composition, ‘Unna Vida Maateyn,’ is choreographed by Robert, and I will be seen along with Poonam Kaur who plays the heroine,” says Ganesh. The psychological thriller is directed by Mohan Krishna. Another film of the actor, Thani Oruvan , in which he shares screen space with Jayam Ravi, Nayanthara and Arvind Swami, is nearing completion, he adds.
Canvas to screen
Ajith Kumar’s next, Yennai Arindhaal , has a number of actors and actresses, and for many of them, the film helps realise their dream of being on the Tamil silver screen. Painter and model-turned-actor Parvathy Nair, who has had the distinction of being part of a team that entered the Guinness Book of World Records for making the longest painting in the world, says, “Besides acting in Kannada and Malayalam films, I always wanted to get into Tamil cinema. Yennai Arindhaal is a wonderful journey. Sharing screen space with Ajith Kumar and Arun Vijay was like a dream come true. Gautham is the coolest director I have ever worked with.”
Fight for your rights
The hero Venky, in director S. P. Swamy’s Yarukkaga, plays a freedom fighter who after serving a lengthy prison term realises that all his erstwhile companions have become terrorists. He learns this from a letter left behind by his lady love. “Seeking refuge in a jungle, I plan a strategy to bring my companions back to my side. The crux of the story is actually a message to the oppressed to legally fight for their rights,” says Venky who, in real life, is a practising lawyer. Yarukkaga is based on a story by Thendral Thyagarajan.
