What is your idea of happiness?

A lilting song, a great movie, family and friends around, peace at the end of a good day.

What is your greatest fear?

Flying. An aircraft, being inside one, rattles me still.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Change my profession. I would like to be something other than a filmmaker.

If you could change one thing about your family, what would it be?

That we get out of home more often.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

My three boys.

If you were to die and come back as a person or thing, what do you think it would be?

I'd like to come back as a woman who will be loved beautifully and respected like she should be.

What is your idea of misery?

When somebody loses that zest for life, it's misery.

Where would you like to live?

Right here, where I have lived for the past twenty years.

What is your favourite occupation?

Musician.

What is your most marked characteristic?

Only on very rare occasions, I lose it.

What is the quality you most like in the opposite sex?

Warmth.

What do you most appreciate in your friends?

They have a shoulder ready for me to lean on.

Who are your favourite authors?

Mario Puzo, Henning Mankell, P.G. Wodehouse.

Who is your favourite hero of fiction?

The Phantom.

Who are your heroes in real life?

My father, Sunil Gavaskar, Viv Richards, Sachin Tendulkar, Mani Ratnam, the men on the border and anybody who flies a plane.

What are your favourite names?

Arya, Dhruv, Adhya, Shray, Nayantara and Sunehra.

What is your present state of mind?

Restless, angsty, itching to write and travel.

How would you like to die?

With family and friends around, happily and quietly.

What is your favourite motto?

Live and let live.
