Freshers’ Day

The new batch of students at CMR University was given a vibrant welcome with a ‘Freshers-cum-Talents’ Day programme. Competitions such as singing, beat boxing, rapping, dance and collage-making saw the newcomers exhibit their talents. Anand K. Joshi, Vice-Chancellor, CMR University, inaugurated the celebrations.

Innovation centre

The Microsoft Innovation Centre was unveiled on the premises of M.V. Jayaraman College of Engineering. Pratima Amonkar, Senior Director for Strategic Audience Marketing, Microsoft, was the chief guest. She highlighted the power of technology and the broader aspect of the term ‘device’, and spoke about the Microsoft Innovation Centre, its benefits and opportunities that it provides.

JLPT 2014

The Bangalore Nihongo Kyooshi-kai (Japanese Language Teachers Association, Bangalore) has announced the availability of application forms for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) 2014. The JLPT is a test for non-native speakers of Japanese, which evaluates and certifies their Japanese language proficiency. The test is simultaneously conducted twice a year in Japan and various locations around the world.

A release said along with the increase in students, the number of JLPT examinees has also increased. At the beginning, there were approximately 7,000 examinees worldwide. Since then, the JLPT has become the largest Japanese-language test in the world, with approximately 6, 10,000 examinees in 62 countries and areas worldwide in 2011. In India alone, more than 6,000 students take the exam annually.

In December 2013, almost 2,000 students from across South India attempted the JLPT, of which 840 were from the Bangalore centre.

Application forms for JLPT are currently being issued and are available at the Bangalore Nihongo Kyooshi-kai (BNK), 1213, 1st Floor, 22nd Cross, HSR Club Road, HSR Layout Sector 3, Bangalore-560102. The last date for issue is September 10 and last date for submission of completed application forms is September 12. The JLPT exam will be conducted at Christ University on Sunday, December 7.
