Studying abroad is a high priority option today for many students who are looking to explore a world of opportunities for their higher studies and career planning. For Indian students especially, the opportunities are increasingly becoming diverse and easy to access, with foreign countries and universities wooing them with offers of unique education facilities and scholarships.
Experiences“Moving to a foreign country needs some adjusting. And that is exactly what I learnt here,” says Ashwin Dayal George who completed his Master’s in Automotive Technology at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), Netherlands. “The university arranged a host of events and activities for all the international students. We were split into small groups and then guided by two or three seniors, which included Dutch and other foreign nationals. The idea of this ‘Intro Week’ at the TU/e is to help us bond with each other and get acclimatised to the new culture,” he adds.
“The university attracts students of diverse backgrounds from all over the world,” says Mathangi Shanmugam, a student from south India at National University of Singapore. “The group assignments and projects have given me a lot of opportunities to interact with them and learn about their cultures. The university follows a relative grading system. Competition is tough among the students, and one needs to be diligent, smart and efficient in managing time in order to score high. Graduating from NUS would be a life-changing experience.”
