Writer Meena Kandasamy recently inaugurated the literary section of Hindustan University’s library amidst much fanfare. The university had invited her as the chief guest.
Expressing his happiness, Dr. N. Rajasekharan Nair, Dean and HOD, Languages, said that Meena Kandasamy’s visit would spark a renewed interest in literary activity and would ignite and propel the participation of students in the “Athena” Literary club of the university.
In her speech, the writer emphasised that engineering students should involve themselves in creative writing. She also shared her language teaching experiences with the students. “The vital role of literature is presenting the human side of life. Students in engineering colleges who are cut-off from the creative arts should develop reading and writing skills,” she said.
