Disgruntled over English

Many French students have signed a petition saying that a question about Ian McEwan’s Atonement that was asked in their baccalaureate English paper was “impossible”.

They have asked the education minister not to count the marks. The students were asked to read a passage from the book and answer two questions about how a character copes with being accused of rape. Since "cope" is not a commonly used word, the children did not know how to answer the question.

Michelle Obama's U.K. visit

The first lady was in the U.K. for two days to promote her charities. On landing, Michelle was greeted by U.S. military families. She was inBritain to discuss her campaigns for girls’ education and better support for military families. The first lady will also meet Prince Harry and David and Samantha Cameron.

Lifting the ban on education

The Sierra Leone government is inching towards an agreement with international agencies to allow pregnant girls to be educated. The government is expected to lift the ban, which was imposed in 2010, when schools reopened.
