At Missouri State University (MSU), equal opportunities are available to both domestic and international students, helping in making world leaders and well-rounded civil citizens. The university offers a variety of degree options for students — whether it’s pursuing a career in streamlined areas like business and hotel and restaurant administration or off-beat career options in the arts.
Located away from the hustle and bustle of the ‘big city life’, MSU’s main campus rests in the beautiful city of Springfield, Missouri, which is home to about 1,60,000 people. With over 23,000 students on campus, the university is the second largest in the state. Despite its size, students have numerous opportunities to find their niche.
There are about 400 student organisations that cater to almost every need and being a part of these organisations helps each student connect with other like-minded individuals. The Association of International Students and the Indian Students Association are two such organisations.
Life in SpringfieldSpringfield is located in a ‘low-cost-of-living’ area where housing is inexpensive. One can find off-campus apartments located within one-kilometre of the university at costs sometimes as low as $600/month for a two bedroom, one bath unit.
This cost can even be further broken down if roommates help split the cost of rent.
MSU also offers world-class education at a comparatively affordable price. Tuition costs at the university remain among the lowest in the country while the quality of education is at par with any other. This 109-year-old institution has colleges accredited to some of the top accrediting bodies. The College of Business, for example, is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, making it a part of the top 10 per cent of business colleges worldwide.
ExperienceThe facilities offered at Missouri State University are phenomenal. The Foster Recreation Centre was featured on The New York Times as one of the best university recreation facilities in the U.S. From a full-fledged gymnasium and an Olympic-sized swimming pool to yoga classes, a running track and indoor basketball and badminton courts, the recreation centre has something for every student. Another favourite among students is Meyer library, which houses numerous journals, books and magazines, as well as ‘quiet rooms’ for studying in a peaceful environment. Twenty four-hour computer labs are also available throughout the semester. MSU offers an unbeatable value that is truly hard to find.
