I have completed Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Besides BE and BTech, what are the programmes available for better placements in MNCs?

via email, Bengaluru

BE and BTech are the natural progression for any engineering Diploma holder. Besides, if you have completed Diploma recently make efforts for campus placements, as many organisations are recruiting Diploma holders for various positions. The organisations also provide an opportunity to their employees for higher studies through University connect programmes. This will be the best opportunity, as one can continue with the job and also earn a degree of repute. The corporates have tied up with various Technology and Business Management Institutes/Universities to support the employees. The Work Integrated Learning Programs (WILP) of BITS, Pilani (Deemed to be University under the UGC Act of 1956) (www.bits-pilani.ac.in) is one of the best and one that genuinely integrates organisational learning with the academic world, besides a globally recognised certification. Connect Dean, WILP Division, BITS – Pilani, Vidya Vihar Campus, Pilani-333031, Rajasthan. Ph: 01596-515216. Email: info@wilp.bits-pilani.ac.in

Please list institutes in Bengaluru that conduct Business Analytics course in the Finance and Accounting domain.

One of the well-received programmes in the domain of Business Analytics is the Post-Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics, jointly organised by the Indian Institute of Management Kolkata (IIMK) (www.iimcal.ac.in) through NIIT-Imperia (www.niitimperia.com). It is a good opportunity to the employed and those being initiated into the corporate world; as most of the face-to-face interaction with the faculty is on weekends. Besides foundation course study, case study analysis and a project the course covers Information Management in Analytics; Statistical Inference; Applications of Analytics in Business Function; and Application of Analytics in Business Verticals, to mention a few. For more details, you should contact the Admission Counsellor, NIIT-Imperia, 1st Floor, 74/2, Sanjana Plaza, Elephant Rock Road, Jayanagar, 3rd Block, Bengaluru-560011. Ph/Mobile: 30041291/96865 28379.

I have completed BE in Electrical and Electronics with an aggregate of 58%. Please suggest certification programmes that I can pursue to get employed in core electrical companies.

via email

The BE qualification itself will help you to make it to the core electrical companies viz., the Public Sector Undertakings and other private players in the market. However, in your personal interest you can have a look at the MOOC programmes (www.mooc-list.com/tags/electronic) that will have relevance to your area of study and specialisation.

I have completed my graduation in BCom and planning to pursue CA. Please suggest if my option is right.

via email

Chartered Accountant (CA) programme is the natural progression for a Commerce graduate, based on which you will be able to get adequate employment opportunities. Once you complete CA you can pursue MBA with a specialisation in Finance, which will get you to the managerial aspects and also catapult you to the domain of consulting based on your experience.

I have completed BTech in Mechanical Engineering from Kozhikode and currently employed with the Railways. I want to pursue MTech through the distance mode. Hence, please help me with the list of institutes/university where I can pursue the same.

The MTech and BTech through distance mode are facing legal issues on account of the statutory bodies having taken a stand on the veracity of delivering technology programmes through distance or correspondence mode. The University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and Distance Education Bureau (DEB) (earlier Distance Education Council) are making efforts to ensure unscrupulous elements do not misguide the learners; the courts in India are also in agreement with this opinion. Hence, you will not find many takers considering the factors of recognition are not as yet available for the programmes. The BITS, Pilani approach of Work Integrated Learning Programmes (WILP) is the finest of approaches to attain an academic programme through means that commensurate with the statutory academic bodies of India.

Can you provide me information about job opportunities including salary packages for those who have completed their MTech from IIT?

via email

Packages for MTech graduates are considered based on the area of specialisation and the job opportunities that an organisation has to offer. In your case you have not specified the specialisation. If the candidate is a MTech in IT or computer related area, the company may immediately not prefer a master degree holder, but then where there are opportunities there have been recruitments, with good placement in the hierarchy, rather than as freshers; and salary that is commensurate with a person who would have put in 4 to 6 years of experience.

If the specialisation is in a rare domain, then the stakes are much higher. Besides, if the individual has pursued MTech following some years of experience after completing BTech, the recruitment teams will view the same differently and will fix hierarchy and salaries as commensurate.

In some cases the recruitment teams scout for prospects with MTech and PhD for specific projects or job design; hence, one needs to watch out to ensure a good job prospect based on the post-graduation qualification.
