Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship Scheme (CSSS) 

Description: To provide financial assistance to meritorious students from low income families to meet a part of their day-to-day expenses while they pursue graduate/post graduate studies in colleges and universities and for professional courses, such as medicine, engineering.

Eligibility: Class XII passed students of all streams can apply who scored minimum 426 in Science or 412 in Commerce, or in 351 in other subjects. Family income should not exceed Rs. 6,00,000 per annum.

Prizes & Rewards: Rs. 1,000 per month for three years, Rs. 2,000 per month for two years after graduation

GDN Next Horizons Essay Contest 2014

Description: This international essay contest is organised by GDN and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation with an objective to invite fresh thinking related to the future of aid that can inform the ongoing discourse on development assistance and to make this thinking available to policymakers and key stakeholders.

Eligibility: Individuals above 21 years of age.

Indira Gandhi Scholarship for single girl child

Description: In order to promote girls education, UGC has introduced a postgraduate Indira Gandhi scholarship for single girl child with an aim to compensate direct costs of girl education.

Eligibility: Any single girl child who happens to be the only child or twin daughter or fraternal daughter in the family and has taken admission in regular, full-time first-year master's degree course in any recognised university or a postgraduate college. The maximum age limit is 30 years.

National Standard Examination

Description: This annual exam offers an opportunity to measure one’s standing against a national standard in physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy, junior science.

This exam is also the first stage for the prestigious international olympiads. Subsequent stages for selecting team to represent India will be conducted by Homi Bhabha Centre of science education.

Eligibility: For NSEP, NSEC, NSEB, NSEA: Class XI, XII; For NSEJS: Class 8, 9, 10
