Tele-actor Aanchal Khurana has made an amazing fifth entry in the serial Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke on Zee TV Essaying Charu’s character, who created trouble in Mayank-Gunjan’s (Ankit Gera-Roopal Tyagi) life in the earlier episodes, Aanchal, in this instance, plays Mayank’s boss.
“I never left the show and am back after a period of four months,” the actor says during a telephonic interview from Mumbai. As to why she becomes part of the storyline for a specific number of episodes, she explains that the Charu-Mayank’s track garners high television rating points (TRP). “This January, it was 3.5 and after my exit in February, it came down to 1.6. Hence, my inclusion is to raise the ratings and of course, provide masala to the viewers.”
Contrary to belief, Aanchal considers herself “lucky” to be able to get a break for two to three months at a stretch. “None of the other actors get so many days off. It feels really good.” This enables her to catch up with her parents, who reside in Delhi, whom she misses a lot and of course enjoy their love and care.
The new avatar is no longer that of a simple and traditional woman. Aanchal plays a glamorous corporate woman donning designer printed saris with spaghetti strap blouses. The makeover is not limited to apparels but also the character of Charu who heads a company. Did it entail any special preparation? “I never did anything. I got the script, understood the character and delivered right on the sets.” Classifying herself as “a spontaneous actor”, she says, “I think too much of rehearsals will undermine my natural acting.”
Though her previous four outings have been negative, this time around, she says, “it is a proper positive character which was easy as I played out what I am in my real life.” Further, she says, “The negative roles are difficult as the emotions and facial expressions are different. You have to convince your audience to hate you.” Aanchal admits that she learnt a lot by enacting different characters she played in previous four entries.
Is she attracted to films? The actor categorically says, “No”.
“Though it is hard work doing television serials, a half-an-hour episode takes about 15 hours of shooting, it is my comfort zone.” Not planning to settle down in Mumbai, Aanchal wants to continue doing serials till such time she enters in matrimony and having done fashion designing she plans to open a boutique thereafter.
