Raashi Khanna has no regrets about not choosing a Bollywood film soon after Madras Café . She has wrapped her shoot for director Srinivas Avasarala’s debut movie Oohalu Gusa Gusalade and is looking forward to more interesting projects. She says, “It has been an amazing journey. When I was given the script, I observed there were many dialogues. Srinivas helped me with the lines and the best part was that he knew Hindi. Acting sessions with my colleague Shourya made it easy too. This one has given me a lot of confidence and I won’t be afraid of doing other language movies. I chose Telugu after the Hindi debut as I always maintained that the script should be convincing enough. I want to be a part of good cinema; Tamil or Telugu.”
She confesses to coming to terms with the explanation given by her director that one shouldn’t attempt to find logic always in cinema. “I play Prabhavati, who’s a complex character. It is the director’s vision that inspired me to work hard on it. I am creatively very satisfied.”
Raashi isn’t averse to doing dream duets as she did in the movie. In fact she is quite comfortable and open to learning different dance forms in Telugu cinema. “I do have the jhatak mataks that are an integral part of any film, I love dancing. I learnt Zumba and Bollywood dancing, but this is more of hip movements. If you have rhythm in your body, it is very easy to pick up any dance,” she says.
In her free time Raashi watches movies with sub titles, and claims she doesn’t know who’s who in Telugu films except Mahesh Babu and Nagarjuna but is okay not knowing too many people. “There are different kinds of people, all creative. I want to work with them. As of now I am keeping my fingers crossed and waiting for my first Telugu film to release. People will know whether I can act or not and what to expect from me,” she says.
