The event was hosted to send a strong message to the youth on their lifestyle modifications necessary to check cancer; it was organised by Apollo Hospital on account of World Cancer Day
According to studies most Cancers today are because of smoking or chewing tobacco, excessive alcohol consumption, less of vegetables and fruits in the diet, more of fried food and non-vegetarian in the diet and lack of adequate exercise,
The designs presented by a bunch of promising upcoming fashion designers were adjudged by a panel comprising of Cine Actress Shriya Saran, Fashion Designer & Former Mrs. India Shilpa Reddy, Fashion Designer Asmita Marwah and Dr. Vijay Anand Reddy, Director, Apollo Cancer Hospital.
Noted designing institutes stretched all barriers of imagination in depicting themes of No Smoking-Chewing of tobacco, Moderation in Alcohol consumption, enhancing vegetables and fruits component in diets, avoiding fried -non-veg food and making adequate exercise a lifetime affair.
NIFT was declared the winner and Raffles Millennium International the Runner-up of the fashion show hosted to create awareness on cancer prevention.
Majority of the cancers are preventable if one can modify life style.
‘No Smoking or Chewing of tobacco’ is one of the most popularised theme for the prevention of cancer and adapting major life style changes.
The dreaded disease has been on an alarming increase in the country with an increasing number youth becoming victims, owing to their improper lifestyle.
