A play reflecting the insecurity of young professionals in their work place was enacted in the city recently. Titled Is Kambakkht Sathe Ka Kya Karen , the Hindi translation and adaptation by Jyoti Subhash from a Marathi play written by Rajiv Naik was staged by Udaan Performing Arts, in association with AYNA under the Badrivishal Pannalal Pitti Trust, Hyderabad at the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University hall.

The play deals with the younger generation’s frustration and insecurity at their work space. In it, a struggling filmmaker Abhay whose main aim is to achieve success in Ad filmmaking, feels insecure about his colleague Sathe. Abhay is of the opinion that Sathe gets undue recognition, far more than what he deserves. So he nurses a a grudge against Sathe and tries to to put him down. In this process he decides to bribe the selection committee for a future Ad film and ensure that Sathe's film is not selected, instead of improving his own talent and moving ahead.

His wife Salma, a college lecturer, is more practical and goes about her work smoothly. She persuades Abhay not to feel insecure and instead work with zeal and enthusiasm. She confronts him over his attempts to corrupt people to come up in life. The difference of opinion between them and how they relate to each other's thinking process forms the part of the play.

Finally Abhay concedes to Salma's point of view and agrees to concentrate on his own work rather than crib about others.

The play suggests that hard work and a positive attitude can lead to a better life and success. It also showed the relationship between two religions going strong purely on the basis of mutual understanding and love and affection.

Saurabh Gharipurikar as Abhay and Richa Jain as Salma , gave a neat and good performance. Their chemistry on the stage was superb and the emotions well balanced.

The interludes between scenes was too long, and some scenes dragged. Barring a few lapses like when Saurabh did overact, the play was presented well. Music by Siddesh Dharmadhikari was apt as was the lighting by Krishna shukla and set design by Kasturi Deodhar. The play was directed by Saurabh Gharipurikar.
