A. Mathivanan.

A. Mathivanan.

I know I am flirting with danger but the fact that I bring light to homes drives me further. I am fearless in character and relentless in approach right from childhood. After higher secondary studies I had to join my ageing father, also an electrician, to assist him. Gradually I developed an interest in this field. Initially, I did not understand the risk involved in this work but later with experience, I managed effectively.

There were people who denied me the opportunity to take up big projects. I took it up as a challenge and learnt all the techniques of the trade with vengeance. Now I am totally independent. My job timings and earnings are erratic. I am king one day and pauper the very next day. There are days when I work round the clock to finish the assigned job and there are days when I sit idle at home. I use those days to pursue my other interests. Through trial and error method I learnt to repair sewing machines. I also take up plumbing and sanitary work orders. I outsource labourers when I sign big contracts.

I have a daughter and a son. My daughter is doing her under graduation and my son is studying in higher secondary. My wife Thilagavathy is a tailor and she supports me financially and takes care of the home.
