Art is not easy to define and an artist’s work is just as hard to appreciate. These aspects came to light during a group painting exhibition, “Liveism” by Sumit Kumar Bera and group, which was organised recently at the All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society.

“Together, we all are trying to explore the inner meaning of life in our own way,” was the description given to works of the different artists by one of the participants. In all there were 10 members in the group and all were Kolkata based.

Varied themes were tackled by the artists. They included “Journey & Relation of a Couple”, “Changing Forms of Nature”, “Desire” and “Collection of Memories”. There were works in acrylic, water colour and ink among others. From the Capital, the exhibition moves on to Mumbai.
