Warangal Member of Parliament Kadiyam Srihari has been inducted into Telangana Council of Ministers and made the Deputy Chief Minister in K.Chandrasekhar Rao’s Cabinet.
The development came after Deputy Chief Minister T. Rajaiah was unceremoniously sacked on Sunday afternoon. Mr. Srihari would hold the Education portfolio too.
In a minor change in portfolios of Ministers, Energy Minister C. Laxma Reddy was asked to hold the Health subject, and is a key one in the wake of outbreak of Swine Flu in the State. Education Minister G. Jagadishwar Reddy has been moved to the Energy portfolio.
Soon after the swearing-in ceremony, the Chief Minister returned to his Camp office where he held an informal cabinet meeting.
Apart from the Chief Minister, there are 17 Ministers in his Cabinet. The Chief Minister sent the resignation of Dr. Rajaiah to Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and the resignation was immediately accepted.
Within minutes, the Chief Minister along with Telangana Speaker S. Madhusudhana Chary, Mr. Kadiyam Srihari and his Cabinet colleagues drove to Raj Bhavan for the swearing in ceremony. The Governor administered the oath of office and secrecy on Mr. Kadiyam Srihari at 2.35 p.m.
The development came after the unceremonious sacking of Mr. Rajaiah from the Cabinet for alleged charges of corruption in his Peshi and failure to take measures to control the spread of Swine Flu in the State.
To work with commitment
The newly inducted Minister Kadiyam Srihari has said that he would work as a committed soldier in the reconstruction of the new Telangana State.
Thanking Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao for giving him an opportunity as a minister in his cabinet, Mr. Srihari told reporters after the swearing in that he would be happy to be part of the development activity in Telangana. He said that the Chief Minister was putting in his best efforts to develop the new State.
Mr. Srihari refused to speak further on any subject stating that he would come back to the media after some time.
