Three kids were drowned while trying to fish in the village tank at Patthepallikouru Gunta in Dagadarthi mandal in Nellore district around noon on Sunday.
The unfortunate children were identified as Bellamkonda Vivek, 10 years, Nellore Ajay, 10, and Gunji Pawan, nine years.
The children were allowed to go out as it was Sunday. The village elders started identifying the pits that were dug up for the sake of soil or gravel illegally. The same pits had proved to be death traps for their children, they deplored.
