Corporation removes advertisement boards

District Collector Archana Patnaik had directed the corporation to rid the traffic poles of advertisements that were illegal.

In the last few days, the Coimbatore Corporation has removed 403 advertisement boards attached to the poles that carried traffic signal lights at 55 places in the city.

District Collector Archana Patnaik had directed the corporation to rid the traffic poles of advertisements that were illegal.

Mr. Ravichandran, Town Planning Officer-in-charge, said that the advertisers had not obtained the Collector’s permission to erect the boards.

He said that the civic body had also removed over 1,000 poles on Oppanakara Street, Big Bazaar Street, Raja Street, D.B. Road, N.S.R. Road, Cross Cut Road, 100 Feet Road, and a few other places that the police were using to mount speakers to make public announcements.
