Agents attached to the Life Insurance Corporation of India prepared gruel at the LIC’s Avinashi Road branch on Saturday as part of their series of protests urging the government to drop its proposals that are against the interest of customers and the insurance agents.

Joint secretary of the agents association V. Chandrasekaran said that their main demands were seeking better interest for customers, asking the government to drop the proposal for reducing commission for agents, imposing tax on policy at the time of maturity and imposing service tax on agents making the deposit.

On February 4 and 5, the agents will send individual postcards to the Union Finance Minister and Chairman of LIC seeking fulfilment of their demands, the joint secretary said.
