As many as 39,164 candidates on Sunday wrote the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission examination at 135 centres in Coimbatore district.
According to sources, the women candidates, a few with children, had arrived at the centres well in advance to take the exam, which started at 10 a.m. and went on till 1 p.m.
The district administration had deputed 1,961 persons as invigilators. It had also formed 13 flying squads and 30 teams to prevent copying and misconduct.
District Revenue Officer T. Christuraj visited a few examination centres to oversee supervision and conduct of examination.
The Coimbatore City and Rural Police had deployed men to prevent untoward incidents.
UdhagamandalamAs many as 4,048 persons wrote the exam in the district on Sunday, according to The Nilgiris Collector P.Sankar.
Pointing out that 5,008 persons were scheduled to appear for the examination in 17 centres set up in the six taluks, he said that 960 candidates did not turn up.
Incident-freeStating that seven mobile parties and three flying squads had been formed to oversee the conduct of the examination, he added that it had been incident free.
