A still from the documentary.

A still from the documentary.

At a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made a pitch to start an International Yoga Day to remind people about the Indian origin of yoga, film-maker Benoy K. Behl has made a documentary on the very same.

Yoga: An Ancient Vision of Life features one of the last interviews given by yoga guru B.K.S Iyengar on January 9.

The documentary showcases yoga as spiritual faith and not a form of physical exercise it has become after people across the world adopted it as means to stay fit.

Speaking about the movie Behl said: “Mr. Iyengar spoke in greater depth and clarity about the philosophical basis of yoga. He went to the heart of the matter and explained the reason and meaning of yoga, which is an inherent part of Indian philosophy.”

The film has been shot across India, Germany and the United States, and features interviews with leading practitioners and scholars of yoga.
