Bomb disposal squads, dog teams and fire department officials were rushed to Swami Dayanand Hospital

September 02, 2014 09:46 am | Updated 09:46 am IST - NEW DELHI:

A hoax bomb call caused panic at a hospital run by the civic body in East Delhi on Monday afternoon. The police and bomb disposal squads, however, managed the crowd, clearing them from a building in the hospital before going ahead with the search.

The police had received a call around 2-30 p.m. about a bomb in the out-patient department (OPD) of Swami Dayanand Hospital in Dilshad Garden. Bomb disposal squads, dog teams and fire department officials were immediately rushed to the hospital.

The hospital draws hundreds of patients every day with a huge rush in the afternoon. “We evacuated the entire building within minutes without informing the public about the bomb call,” a senior police officer said. No explosives were found during the search. After the building was declared safe, regular operations resume.
