A man wanted in connection with robbery of Rs.2.5-crore in a dry fruit shop in Central Delhi has been arrested by the special cell of Delhi Police.
The police had announced a cash reward of Rs.50,000 on a tip-off leading to his arrest.
On Thursday, the police was informed that Sabir alias Ustad, who was allegedly involved in the Lahori Gate robbery, would come to Anand Vihar ISBT.
“Around 9.20 p.m., Sabir arrived in a bus and got down near the entry gate of the ISBT. He was identified and arrested after a brief scuffle,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Rajiv Ranjan.
Tilak Bazar-based dry fruit wholesale commission agent Gaurav Rathi had reported that his employees and he were held hostage by four armed robbers in his shop around 6 p.m. on December 9 last.
“The robbers took over Rs.2.5 crore in cash from the shop. A case of robbery was registered at Lahori Gate Police Station. The robbery, which took place in a very crowded and busy market, created panic among businessmen and traders of the area,” said Mr. Ranjan.
