Issuing a stern warning to Hindu Rao Hospital, Malka Ganj, the Medical Council of India (MCI) has written to the Central Health & Family Ministry stating that it will not renew permission for admissions to the third batch of MBBS unless the hospital administration upgrades the physical/teaching facility.

In a letter issued on January 21, the MCI noted: “Assessment of physical/ other teaching facilities available for renewal of permission for MBBS course of the third batch (50 seats) of Hindu Rao Hospital for the academic year 2015-16 was found to be unsatisfactory.”

The Hospital falls under North Delhi Municipal Corporation and is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.

The letter noted that there is deficiency of faculty and the central photography unit is not available. The inspection committee also found that the students’ hostel availability and residential quarters is inadequate.

“Also not available is radio diagnosis and ETO sterilizer. The anatomy department has only two cadavers for 50 students and mounted specimens are only 30. The forensic medicine department is under renovation and no continued medical education programme were held during the last one year,” noted the report.

The MCI executive committee has noted that the hospital will have to upgrade and submit a compliance report by February 20 for allowing them to continue admissions this year.
