Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday blamed the Delhi Police — which is under the control of the Central government — over the recent spurt in incidence of rape of minors in the capital. Two such rape cases — one in Nangloi and the other in Anand Vihar — have been reported in the last 24 hours.

Mr. Kejriwal said the Delhi Police has "completely failed" to provide security in the capital.

Mr. Kejriwal tweeted: "Repeated rape of minors is shameful and worrying. Delhi police has completely failed to provide safety. What are PM n his LG doing?(sic)"

The Chief Minister said he would visit the hospital and meet the victims today.

Three detained in one case

A minor girl, who walked out of her home during a power cut, was allegedly abducted by two motorcycle-borne men and raped late Friday night. The incident took place in Nangloi around 11 p.m. Some persons attending the Ramlila function have told police they saw two men on a motorcycle abduct the girl.

Since the motorcycle could not be stopped, the locals launched a search in the nearby areas. She was found bleeding at a nearby park in the wee hours on Saturday. The victim is undergoing treatment for her injuries.

A rape case has been registered at Nangloi police station and police are probing the case.

In another incident of a minor being sexually abused, a five-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by three men in Anand Vihar on Friday evening.

Police said they have deatained three suspects after the girl was found bleeding by her relatives. The accused persons work as labourers and lived near the victim's home. > More..
