Six dealers under scanner

July 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST - New Delhi:

Six teams of officials from the Department of Trade and Taxes surveyed six dealers on Saturday in order to bring in transparency and prevent harassment of ‘honest’ traders.

The Department is following the policy of surveying in cases based on specific intelligence input integrated with possibility of tax evasion. They have video-graphed the entire survey operations in order to achieve complete transparency.

During the survey, a dealer admitted his liability and deposited the due tax to become eligible for 80 per cent reduction of the penalty as per law.

In many cases, dealers accepted fraudulent Central Sales running into lakhs.  Shops of two dealers were sealed and accounts books and other relevant papers of three dealers were seized.
