Two shops in Delhi sealed

Delhi government’s department of Trade and Taxes conducted a survey operation during which two shops were sealed while accounts book of three others were seized to check evasion.

According to a department official, they got specific inputs of a number of bogus dealers and tax evaders. Following the information, six teams from the department carried out survey operation at six traders across Delhi on Saturday.

Department claims that the entire survey was video recorded for transparency. “As a result of the survey, one dealer admitted his liability and deposited the due tax to become eligible for 80 per cent reduction of the penalty as per law,” senior official said.

“During the survey most of the dealers accepted fraudulent central sales running into several lakh. Shops of two dealers were sealed while accounts books and other relevant papers of three dealers were seized,” officer said.

Meanwhile in another survey operation, the team seized accounts books and cash memo of suspected transactions at the premises of a mobile phone dealer at Karam Pura area. —PTI
