Citizens were in for a surprise when there were sudden showers here on Sunday evening, with the Met department recording 9.2 mm rainfall. The weather throughout the day too was pleasant. However, some areas experienced power shutdowns triggering concern among students preparing for the CBSE exams beginning Monday.

According to a Met official, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded on Sunday were 27.7 degree Celsius and 18.6 degree C.

“The present situation is a result of a trough going from Chhattisgarh to South Tamil Nadu. Telangana and Rayalaseema districts, which fall in between, received showers,” he explained. The official said that the sky would remain cloudy on Monday as well with rainfall occurring in some parts of the city.
