Six-year-old boy hit by cricket ball, dies

A six-year-old boy died while playing cricket with friends at Vanasthalipuram as the ball hit his chest, the police said on Friday.

Vamshi Krishna was batting when the ball bowled by another boy hit him while they were playing cricket at local Sahara Estates on Thursday evening.

"The boy collapsed on the ground. Alerted by other boys, locals rushed him to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead," the Vanasthalipuram ACP Bhaskar told The Hindu .

The Police said that all the boys playing there were below 12 years of age. "Though no one had any intention to cause injury, a case was registered and investigation is on," the ACP said.

A case was registered under section 174 of Criminal Procedure Code.
