Telangana Telugu Desam Party leaders on Friday urged Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to intervene and convene a meeting between the Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to sort out differences between the two States in an amicable manner.

A large delegation of Telangana TDP leaders called on the Governor at the Raj Bhavan and submitted two representations regarding attacks on them by ruling TRS workers and problems of the farmers due to power scarcity.

Addressing the media outside Raj Bhavan later, Telangana TDP president L. Ramana, and other leaders demanded the dismissal of Telangana Education Minister G. Jagdish Reddy and arrest of TRS Munugode legislator, Prabhakar Reddy and Jupally Krishna Rao for the attacks on them and the burning of the party office at Nalgonda.

Alleging that the TRS leadership was trying to liquidate TDP leaders in the State, they asserted that they would not be cowed down by such assaults. Protest rallies would be organised all over Telangana on the issue. Criticising the TRS Government for scaling down security to TDP leaders, they urged the Governor to look into the issue.

Accusing TRS government of “deceiving” farmers by giving only two to three hours of power after having promised eight hours supply, they said it was solely responsible for the suicide by 250 farmers and demanded ex-gratia of Rs.10 lakh each to their kin. They also sought a compensation of Rs.30,000 per acre for the losses suffered by farmers due to power shortage and wanted the government to ensure MSP for various produce.

They also urged the Governor to instruct the State Government to convene an all-party meeting on the farmers’ problems.
