Union Urban Development Minister, M. Venkaiah Naidu has asked leaders in power not to weaken the strength of Hyderabad as a place of happening and international destination.

Laying the foundation stone for the Centre for Excellence of the Institute of the Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) at Uppal in Hyderabad on Sunday, Mr. Naidu said it was immaterial which party was in power in Telangana but the significance of the State capital as a special attraction of people must be protected.

He warned public not to fall into trap of leaders who want to drive a wedge between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

He defended a few tough decisions taken by the Modi-led NDA Government saying they were essential to improve quality of service to people. The recent rail fare hike to improve passenger amenities and higher tariff regime in Gujarat to supply quality and assured power were models of service by Mr. Modi by charging public.
