Chief Minister’s office hub of scam: Viswan

April 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:54 am IST - KOCHI:

Left Democratic Front convener Vaikom Viswan on Monday told the Justice G. Sivarajan Commission, inquiring into the solar scam, that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s office was the epicentre of the scam.

Deposing before the commission, Mr. Viswan said the Chief Minister’s office had sabotaged the investigation into the scams by destroying evidence. In fact, the accused in the scam had swindled investors, taking advantage of their connections with the Chief Minster and his office. He also pleaded with the commission to call for and examine the phone call details of the Chief Minister’s personal staff including Jikkumon Joseph and Tenny Joppen who were ousted from the office following allegations against them.

He told the commission that the Intelligence wing had obtained the details of the phone calls made by Saritha S. Nair, one of the accused, to Ministers Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, A.P. Anil Kumar, Aryadan Mohammed; Jose K. Mani and K.C. Venugopal, MPs; and Abdullakutty and Hibi Eden, MLAs. He sought a directive to the police to seize these phone call details.
