An overhead electric line of the railway snapped after a tree branch fell on it between the Ernakulam Junction and adjacent West Cabin around 4.45 a.m. on Monday. Trains passing through the station were delayed up to two hours.

The line was repaired and train services were restored by 7.20 a.m., said Ernakulam Area Manager of Southern Railway Rajesh Chandran.

In the absence of an active electrical line, Thiruvananthapuram-bound Vanchinad Express, a MEMU train and a goods train were hauled away using diesel engines available here.

Other trains were held up at the station till the line was repaired.
