Health dept. raid: airport canteens, 12 eateries shut

Led by the District Medical Officer Haseena Mohammed 32 squads of the department, under the Safe Kerala programme, had examined 555 units across the district.

In raids conducted by the Health department authorities on Friday, 12 eateries, a soda factory and canteens functioning at the Cochin International Airport Ltd and S.N. Medical College, Manjali, were shut down.

Led by the District Medical Officer Haseena Mohammed 32 squads of the department, under the Safe Kerala programme, had examined 555 units across the district. The squads also issued notices to 196 units to improve their facilities for better hygiene.

The squads examined include 326 restaurants, 140 bakeries, 33 cool bars, 15 canteen, 21 soda factories and six toddy shops and 11 other units. District Rural Health Officer P. N. Sreenivasan, technical assistants C. P. Chandran, K. Vijayakumar and junior health inspectors led the squads.
