High Court dismisses VS plea

January 31, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - KOCHI:

A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Friday dismissed a writ petition filed by Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan challenging a 2013 government order regarding withdrawal of the palmolein case.

The petition was dismissed in view of a Thrissur Vigilance Court order rejecting the government plea to withdraw the case.

The Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice A.M. Shaffique made it clear that Mr. Achuthanandan would be at liberty to approach the court as and when a fresh course of action arose in this regard.

Advocate General K.P. Dandapani earlier submitted that the petition was a futile one and had become infructuous as the Thrissur Vigilance Court had already rejected the government’s application seeking withdrawal of the palmolein case. — Special Correspondent
