Getting a sneak peek into Mollywood’s latest releases just got harder. The industry is now careful to keep everything, right from the storyline to the tone and tenor of the films, under wraps.

If fans of Prithviraj and Indrajith failed to mine out from the web even a single image or video from the location of the duo’s eagerly awaited flick, Double Barrel , then it is thanks to this new age marketing strategy of secrecy-induced anticipation and hype.

With the makers declaring a gag on publishing videos and images, fans are left with no other alternative but to wait for official teasers of the movie, shot in picturesque Goa, just ahead of its release.

But wait before you dispel it as yet another gimmick from the new generation stable. For, even someone like Sathyan Anthikkad, a veteran filmmaker, seems to have embraced it. Except for a few stills of lead actors Mohanlal and Manju Warrier, hardly anything is known about the director’s new flick.

Amal Neerad has obviously reaped the benefits of the new formula with his latest release, Iyobinte Pusthakam . The young director divulged next to nothing about the film until a teaser strung up with breathtaking visuals was released just a few days before its release. The ploy worked like a dream and the movie generated much buzz just at the right time.

Say yes to English

It may not be acceptable to film experts who root for films with Malayalam titles. They even argue against government subsidy being given to Malayalam films with English titles.

However, a slew of filmmakers believe that films should have attention grabbing titles and if English fits the bill, then so be it.

And they prove it by naming their forthcoming flicks in English.

So, Indrajith will be seen next in Angels besides sharing screen space with his brother Prithviraj in Double Barrel .

Popular director Siddique, a known fan of English names, is coming up with Bhaskar the Rascal with Mammootty and Nayanthara in the lead. Suresh Gopi’s new movie is Dolphins , director Vysakh’s latest is Cousins while noted filmmaker Kamal’s son Jenuse Mohammed is set to make his debut with 100 Days of Love starring Dulquer Salman.
