The State government on Tuesday informed the Kerala High Court that Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan who filed a petition seeking a CBI probe into the solar scam cases had earlier demanded a judicial inquiry, instead of a CBI probe, saying he had no faith in the Central agency.
In an additional statement, the government pointed out that Mr. Achuthanandan had already appeared before the Justice G. Sivarajan Commission inquiring into the solar scam cases and filed an affidavit before it. Besides him, MLAs T.M Thomas Isaac, Raju Abraham, Sree Ramkarishnan, V.S. Sunil Kumar, and Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had deposed before the commission. The statement added that final reports had been filed in all the 33 cases registered in connection with the solar scam. Out of the 33 cases, the trial court had disposed of three cases. Trial in a case pending before the Thiruvalla Judicial First Class Magistrate Court was over while the ongoing trial in three other cases would be concluded soon. The additional statement was filed in response to a writ petition filed by the Opposition leader seeking a CBI probe.
