: A writ petition was filed in the Kerala High Court on Wednesday seeking a directive to the State government and the State Police Chief to take necessary action to remove protesters in front of the Ernakulam Maharaja’s college. The petition was filed by P. Rajesh of Palluruthy.
According to him, no student had been able to enter the college campus for the last 40 days due to the ongoing agitation. The government and the Mahatma Gandhi University had not taken any steps to settle the issues. In fact, the agitation was being organised by a minority of the students and teachers. The agitators were holding their protests inside a tent illegally constructed on the footpath. Though the petitioner had brought these matters to the attention of the district administration and police, no steps had been taken to remove the protesters.
