The Judicial Magistrate Court VI here has admitted a petition filed by transgender activist Bharathi Kannamma, objecting to the portrayal of transgenders in the recently released Tamil movie ‘I.’ The movie, directed by Shankar and starring Vikram, has come under fire from the transgender groups who have raised questions about the portrayal of their community in poor light.

In the petition, Bharathi Kannamma has stated that the portrayal of the transgender community through a character in the movie through various objectionable references was extremely demeaning.
