With the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Thirukalyanam all set to be held on April 30 as part of the Chithirai festival, online registrations for the devotees to witness the spectacle have been going on in full swing. The temple authorities began online registrations for the event on April 21 at special counters on the temple premises as well as at the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Girls’ Higher Secondary School at Teppakulam. Alternatively, devotees could also register themselves on the temple’s websitemaduraimeenakshi.org.
A temple official said that the registrations for the tickets in the denomination of Rs. 500 were sold out on the first day.
“As many as 1,500 registrations for tickets of Rs. 500 denominations were received on the first day itself and they have been sold out. There are still only a few tickets in the denomination of Rs. 200 left for which devotees can register themselves by April 25th evening,” he said.
The event is scheduled to take place at Tiruppugazh Mandapam on North Adi Street of the temple from 9 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. Nearly 1,500 devotees who registered themselves under the Rs. 500 ticket category will be given entry to the venue of the Thirukkalyanam through the West Gopuram and 4,500 devotees who have registered for Rs. 200 tickets will be allowed to enter through the North Gopuram.
