Two held for assaulting police

Two youths, who escaped after allegedly picking a fight with two police personnel who were on night duty, were arrested on Thursday.

Police said that when policemen Kannan and Mariselvam were on duty at the check-post on New Natham Road, two motorcycle-borne youths picked a fight with them.

Later, after abandoning their motorcycle, the two took to their heels.

But, the police traced them to Palanganatham and identified the duo as Kartik (25) and Karthikeyan (28). Tallakulam police registered a case.

Two drown

Two unidentified boys drowned in Madakulam tank on Thursday evening. The police, who received a call in the control room, alerted the Fire and Rescue Services personnel. After a long search, the bodies were fished out. The identity of the deceased is yet to be established.
