‘Women want Tasmac outlets shifted

August 04, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 29, 2016 01:07 pm IST - MADURAI:

Members of the All India Democratic Women’s Association on Monday laid siege to two TASMAC retail outlets in Tirupparankundram demanding their shifting as promised earlier by the officials.

Led by its State general secretary, Suganthi, the members staged a ‘wailing’ protest highlighting the evils of the liquor.

The members have been staging a series of protests in the last few months.

They contended that the two TASMAC outlets were creating trouble for the women coming to the Primary Health Centre and also for school going girls.

After a protest held in September 2014, the members against staged a demonstration in April 2015, when the officials promised them to shift the liquor shops soon.

However, as the officials did not keep up their promise, the women took to the street again.
