A 25-year-old man was hacked to death by a gang of assailants on Friday reportedly in revenge for a murder in 2012. The incident occurred in Kannur, off the Mangalore-Bangalore National highway.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (crime), Mangalore, Vishnuvardhan, Illiyas alias Ijju (25) had come for hair-cut at a saloon around 11a.m. A group of people entered the saloon and hacked him to death. The murderers then fled away from the saloon.
Mr. Vishnuvardhan said lliyas was an accused in the murder of Yellu Puttu, a person involved in criminal cases, in 2012. There was suspicion that this murder was in revenge to murder in 2012. Search was on for the culprits, he said.
