New website eases access to blood in Mangalore

There is no need to download an app on one’s smartphone to request for blood or register as a blood donor. Enter the website www.redcrossdk.org and the site will be customised to the your phone’s specifications.

This is a key features of the new website of the Indian Red Cross Society, Dakshina Kannada, which was launched by Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim here on Saturday.

Prakash from the Pacesoft Technologies, which has developed the website, said the site had been designed for smartphone users.

“The display suits the phone. There is no need to download any app,” Mr. Prakash said.

The website provides for registration of donors. It also has the application to request for blood. “When a request is made, an email is sent to the control desk and the respective donor of the blood group required.” Mr. Prakash said a SMS alerts option was yet to be enabled.
