Protest over death of child

Family members of a four-day-old baby staged a protest following the child’s death at Government Lady Goschen Hospital on Sunday.

Prabhavati, a resident of Kunjathbail, gave birth to Prabha at the hospital four days ago following Caesarean section. On Sunday, the child had breathing problems after drinking breast milk and it died. Superintendent of the hospital M.M. Shakuntala said the child died because of milk aspiration, which occurs among to one among 10,000 live births.

The child’s father Aman and his other relatives staged a protest on the hospital premises alleging negligence on the part of the hospital staff.
