July 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:39 am IST - Mangaluru:

A meeting of the Road Transport Authority (RTA) headed by Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim will be held on Saturday to consider applications for issuing permits to run city bus services in Mangaluru by KSRTC under the JNNURM (Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission).

During a review meeting, district in-charge Minister B. Ramanath Rai was told that there were 35 applications pending with the authority seeking permits for buses on 17 routes where people were facing hardship because of fewer private city buses.

The RTA meeting was being postponed since April for one reason or the other.

Mr. Ibrahim said that a meeting has been called on Saturday.
