Student Police Cadets from the St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Pattom, on Sunday brightened the festive season for the residents of the Government Care Home, Pulayanarkota, with an unexpected visit that stretched for over three hours.

The students, led by Sheen Tharayil, Circle Inspector, Medical College, and other officials of the SPC’s Christmas vacation camp, reached the Care Home as part of the extra-curricular activities at the camp. The residents, many of them with little or no connection with their families, were overjoyed to see the children in uniform, with Mr. Tharayil saying that some of them went to the extent of saying that they felt that their Christmas had become worthwhile with a visit by their “grandchildren.”

The cadets who had brought cakes and sweets for the residents, spent time with them, singing songs, listening to their stories, and also describing how the camp was going on for them.

The cadets were accompanied by their teachers Ajeesh Kumar, Jiji Mathai, and police officials in charge of the camp, supervised by the Medical College police.
